BIKE MAINTENANCE PART 1 Overview
Aims to cover everything you need to know on general maintenance. Including cleaning and an overview of all working parts. Cleaning and Lubricating are the easiest services you can administer to your bike and the most essential if you want to keep it running smoothly in all weathers.
BIKE MAINTENANCE PART 2 Wheels
Focuses on wheels as they can be expensive to replace, so learn to look after the ones you’ve got. In this session we’ll show you how to do a proper tyre check, how to maintain hubs and repair inner tubes. Yes, that means the dreaded puncture.
BIKE MAINTENANCE PART 3 Brakes
Aims to show you how different braking systems work.* How to change your brake pads when they’re worn down, and how to align them properly so they can do their job.
BIKE MAINTENANCE PART 4 Drivetrain
Aims to teach you everything you need to know about running smoothly. We’ll look at indexing gears and replacing cables, both inner and outer.
There is a direct correlation between bike comfort and ride enjoyment.
What does a bike fit do for me?
A bike is symmetrical, you are not. Making small adjustments to your bike can improve comfort, reduce the risk of injury and increase overall performance.
We will also take into consideration your cycling health history, your style and type of riding and your overall goals.
In a session we cover three main areas:
- Feet – pedals, cleats, cycling shoes, and occasionally crank arm length.
- Pelvis– saddle selection, height, fore/aft and tilt, and sometimes cycling shorts.
- Hands– handlebars, brake levers, and hoods which are connected via a stem.
You can expect the initial session to be 75 minutes and be prepared to ride! We utilize indoor smart trainers to complete a full biomechanical assessment, and use goniometers, video and lasers to accurately measure ranges so you can maximize power, efficiency and comfort.
